God Bless Governor Ron DeSantis:
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) announced Friday the state will completely reopen its economy, allowing restaurants to operate at full capacity and barring localities from ordering businesses to close.
The state now enters Phase 3 of its reopening, lifting the vast majority of any remaining restrictions on gyms, bars and retail spaces.
These spaces had already been operating at or near full capacity under previous phases of Florida’s reopening.
Cities and counties would be forced to justify any localized restrictions that bring capacity below 100%.
“We’re not closing anything going forward,” DeSantis said at a press conference.
As much as people make fun of Florida, they’re doing it right down there. Other states with Republican governors would be wise to follow suit, and fast. Now that people in other states see Florida fully reopened, they’re going to start asking why their states can’t fully reopen either.
The first domino has fallen. Florida is the first state to say, “No more.”
In the Presidential election of 1920, Republican candidate Warren G. Harding won in one of the biggest landslides in history on the slogan “Return To Normalcy.” The country had just been through World War 1 and the Spanish Flu Pandemic, and Harding sensed the mood of the nation. People were ready to get back to some semblance of normalcy in their lives.
100 years hence, it’s time once again for the country to Return To Normalcy. Thank you, Gov. DeSantis, for taking the first step towards that.
