Fourth Covid jabs should not be offered until there is more evidence, the head of Britain’s vaccine body has said – as he warned that giving boosters to people every six months was “not sustainable”.
In an interview with The Telegraph, Professor Sir Andrew Pollard, chairman of the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), said “we need to target the vulnerable” in future, rather than giving boosters to all over-12s.
Sir Andrew said there was no point in trying to stop all infections, and that “at some point, society has to open up”.
They’re throwing in the towel.
Speaking to mark the first anniversary of the AstraZeneca jab rollout last January, Sir Andrew said: “The worst is absolutely behind us. We just need to get through the winter.”
He wants lockdowns to be consigned to history, adding: “At some point, society has to open up. When we do open, there will be a period with a bump in infections, which is why winter is probably not the best time.
“But that’s a decision for the policy makers, not the scientists. Our approach has to switch, to rely on the vaccines and the boosters. The greatest risk is still the unvaccinated.”
Of course, all the Experts™ and government functionaries have to continually mouth this Official Line.
Sir Andrew cautioned against blindly following Israel and Germany, which have given the green light to a second set of boosters to all over-60s.
“The future must be focusing on the vulnerable and making boosters or treatments available to them to protect them,” he said.
Groundbreaking idea there.
“We know that people have strong antibodies for a few months after their third vaccination, but more data are needed to assess whether, when and how often those who are vulnerable will need additional doses.”
Vaccines can rapidly be adapted to fight new variants, but he said: “We can’t vaccinate the planet every four to six months. It’s not sustainable or affordable. In the future, we need to target the vulnerable.”
So basically after two years the conclusion the Experts™ have come to is that Covid-19 ought to be treated like the seasonal flu.
That’s why we pay them the Big Bucks!
It’s obvious to anyone with a functioning brain that a policy of twice-a-year shots (at this point it’s dishonest to call the Covid-19 shots “vaccines” given that they are nothing of the sort) is completely unworkable.
With each subsequent shot required, uptake will inevitably decrease:
Right now, we’ve got 243 million people with 1 dose, 204 million with 2 doses, and just 68 million with 3 doses.
Now obviously that boosted number is going to increase, but it will never be as high as the fully vaccinated figure. And the fully vaccinated figure itself will never be as high as the “at least 1 dose” figure.
For one thing, you just have lazy people out there who will never keep up with the full shot regimen. There have consistently been tens of millions of people since the start of the shot rollout that have gotten their first shot but not the second, as you can see from the chart.
For the most part, people have been pretty good about going to their follow-up appointment for the second shot, but it will never be 100%.
Currently, about 1 in 3 people who got the first two shots have gotten the third shot. That ratio will narrow somewhat in the coming months of course, but it will never reach 1:1, or probably even 1:2.
And then, when they inevitably roll out a fourth shot, uptake on it will be even lower than the uptake levels on the third shot.
With each subsequent new shot rolled out, the uptake level will be lower and lower and lower each round.
Part of it is that people simply can’t be trusted to keep up with the regimen as it gets more and more burdensome. But another major part of it is that people inevitably smell bullshit. Many of them got the first two shots because they were under the impression that the vaccines would end the pandemic, but that has not happened.
A great many of those people who got vaccinated now feel swindled and lied-to, and so out of principle many of them will not get the third shot. Booster shots were not mentioned when these vaccines were rolled out. The promise was that it would be 2 shots and then the pandemic would be over. People now understand that they were lied to.
And it doesn’t even really matter if there’s a “vaccine mandate” out there, either. The idea that even a government mandate can ensure 100% compliance–on anything–is a fantasy. For example, while the old axiom is that death and taxes are the only two guarantees in life, roughly 5% of Americans each year fail to file their federal income taxes. And even in 2020, with universal mail in voting, only 67% of eligible Americans voted. Normally elections get around 60% participation. There are still around 15% of American adults who smoke cigarettes despite the years and years of government efforts to discourage people from smoking.
You will never get full compliance on anything, ever.
I think governments are slowly starting to realize that no matter how hard they try, they will never be able to change this fact as it pertains to vaccines. Passports, “green passes”–doesn’t matter. Mandatory vaccination is a losing battle, and inherently so.
Does anyone consider it a workable situation to require mandatory Covid-19 shots every six months as a condition of both your employment and freedom? Eventually the whole system will collapse. With each round of shots that become mandatory, uptake will decrease, and so more and more people will have to be fired every six months due to noncompliance. It’ll be like Squid Game: eventually by like shot #22 or something, there will only be one compliant person in America remaining and employed. Everyone else will be fired for failing to get their 21st shot.
If this sounds like a ridiculous scenario to you, I certainly hope you’re right. But to this point, I’ve not heard anything about a timeframe or an expiration date for the vaccine mandates.
Seriously, look it up yourself. Search “vaccine mandate end date” or “vaccine mandate expiration date.” There’s no clear information.
The only thing I could find was a New York Times FAQ on the illegal and unconstitutional OSHA mandate that said the following:
OSHA anticipates that the emergency temporary standard will be in effect for six months, but there is a possibility it could be extended or made more permanent. The agency is continuing to monitor Covid infections and deaths, as well as vaccination rates.
No definitive end date. Maybe six months, but also maybe permanent.
Maybe “emergency temporary standard” is not the right name for it?
This is all completely unworkable and doomed to fail.
And this is to say nothing of the fact that the shots do not prevent you from getting or spreading Covid-19.
We are now at the point where a (temporarily) fully “vaccinated” individual can be positive for Covid-19, but still be allowed entry into a crowded nightclub, while a perfectly healthy and Covid-19 negative individual who is not vaccinated will be denied entry.
This is utter insanity.
Nothing about this is based on anything even resembling science. It is ridiculous and doomed to fail. At least in Britain, they’re starting to realize it. Hopefully America follows suit.
